A haven of dreams between stone and savannah: Arijiju
With feet firmly rooted in the earth and heart beating to the rhythm of the savannah, Arijiju stands as a hymn to heritage and a love of nature. The owner, raised among the vastness of the African landscape, built this sanctuary so that his London family could connect with their roots and learn to embrace and protect nature.
It is a commitment to conservation. Every brick has been laid with sustainability in mind, and every visitor contributes to funding local conservation projects.
Nestled in views of the majestic Mount Kenya, Arijiju blends into the landscape until it almost disappears. Carved into the bedrock, it is so discreet that even from the air, it is hard to spot. Every dawn, the rays of the equatorial sun illuminate its rooms in a spectacle of light and color that will take your breath away.
Arijiju is a place where the sun is so bright that even from the air it is difficult to spot. Away from the crowds of other safari destinations, Arijiju is located in Laikipia, one of the last strongholds of true wilderness. The house's design, a contemporary and ancient mix, combines elemental elements with craftsmanship and was inspired in part by the monasteries of neighboring Ethiopia. Inside, you'll find five spacious suites, a cinema room, a study, a living room, and a dining room. Beyond its structure and stunning location, Arijiju is a family home where the people are the real heart of the location. From the moment you cross its threshold, you feel part of it, and this feeling lingers with every visit. A team of 24 resident staff, from guides and rangers to chefs and butlers, is at your disposal at all times.
Every detail has been considered and refined to create an ambience of unpretentious elegance. Handmade furniture by local artisans, crinkled Belgian linen, heavy campaign desks, and leather accents combine to create an earthy, organic effect.
Arijiju is located in the Borana Reserve, a vast private game reserve within Laikipia, home to most of East Africa's mammals and one of the country's largest elephant populations, so your daily safaris will be surrounded by the Big Five, from cheetahs and lions to giraffes and the iconic black and white rhino.
