Mara Plains Camp, Masai Mara, Kenya
Mara Plains Camp, Olare Motorogi Reserve, Masai Mara, Kenya
Discover the beauty of the Mara in May, known in Kenya as "long rains". Despite the climate change, these months still offer sunny days with occasional afternoon thunderstorms that add drama to the scene and provide the best backdrop for your photographs.
This is a great place to take pictures. Although the Great Migration is in the southern Serengeti during this period, you can still enjoy plenty of prey for the big cats that are territorial and do not migrate. Another, lesser-known herd with"only" 250,000 wildebeest, zebra, and topi, is known as the Loita herd, and they are present for much of the year.
On a full day's drive through the Masai Mara National Reserve, it is possible to see no other vehicle but to witness spectacular lions and cheetahs walking directly towards you through grasslands, dotted with termite mounds topped by antelope topi seeking danger from high places. Join those who visit the Mara at this time of year and have a unique experience!
